Covid Pavilion

The COVID Pavilion, erected on the OsloMet campus at Bislett in Oslo, represents a significant response to the urgent need for efficient and safe testing facilities during the pandemic.

The pavilion's construction utilized a rented LAYHER scaffolding system to form its envelope, with the core structure built from a combination of off-the-shelf and reclaimed materials. This approach not only ensured a rapid assembly but also underscored the project's commitment to sustainability and resource efficiency. The use of prefabricated and pre-cut materials facilitated ease of assembly and disassembly, aligning with the principles of "light architecture" taught in the student's master's course, "Field Stations: Lightweight Architecture."

In addition to the direct collaboration between OsloMet and AHO, the project reflects a broader commitment to addressing public health challenges through innovative design. The pavilion exemplifies how architectural solutions can be swiftly adapted to meet pressing needs, while also minimizing environmental impact.
