“Elevate” is a site-spesific work that focuses on the connection between nature, humanity, and the relationships that bind us. The stone, a symbol of inner strength, represents both the forces that shape the natural world and our ability to endure life’s challenges. The work is designed to blend into its environment, creating a space where people can reflect and reconnect with nature’s rhythms.
The artwork features stones of shale, a material brought from elsewhere, symbolizing solidarity with those who are displaced. These stones invite us to consider the cycles of life and the forces that shape us, offering a space for dialogue, rest, and contemplation. The circular arrangement of the stones reminds us that our actions are part of a larger cycle, where everything is interconnected.
“Elevate” was commissioned for Land Art Dikemark at the Dikemark Festival (August 2024), supported by Viken County Council, Asker Municipality, and the Norwegian Arts Council, in collaboration with NIE Theatre, Asker Municipality, and Trafo Kunsthall.
