Philosophy and Practice

I am an interdisciplinary artist and architect exploring the intersection of circular materials, relational architecture, and ecological systems thinking. My practice is driven by a site-specific and material-led methodology, where local, raw materials such as wood, stone, earth, and clay dictate the form. Through my work, I examine how humanity interfaces with natural ecosystems, and how design can function as a regenerative tool where material precedes form.

Methodology and academic background

My methodology bridges a fine arts education from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam) with professional architecture degrees from the Bergen School of Architecture (BAS) and the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO).

This understanding of materials is also carried into my pedagogical work, through lectures and teaching in Art Brut and material studies at Strykejernet and Prosjektskolen.

Selected Exhibitions & Projects

Magma – Public Art Commission, Fredrikstad Municipality (2026)

A permanent, sculptural universe at Lunde School, now part of the Fredrikstad Municipality art collection. Grounded in the geological formation of granite and the relationship between minerals and the human body, the project connects local stone production to cosmos and our belonging to nature. A monumental sun form emerges from the ground, accompanied by nine raw stone planets placed throughout the schoolyard to invite spatial reflection.

Borrowed Land – Færderbiennalen (2024)

In collaboration with the architectural collectives ACT!, Studio Winther, and CLAYA, we erected monumental rammed earth columns on Tjøme to explore site-specific materials and circular construction methods.​

 

Multispecies Neighbourhoods – Oslo Architecture Triennale (2022)

In collaboration with Atelier Dalziel, I contributed to the design of a proto-architectural seed structure constructed from local straw and clay.

 

Urdarbrønnen / Ragnarók – The National Museum (2022)

Served a central role as an assistant to artist Vilde von Krogh during the creation of this monumental installation for the grand opening of The National Museum. The piece has since been acquired for the museum's permanent collection.
